Surya Mahal-Ultimate foodie destination

The year 1985,the day 3rd march, started Surya Mahal Restaurant with its shine and glow and in a very short span became a hot & favourite restaurant of Jaipur city.It was started by Mr. H.S. Pali who is running it along with his sons Hardeep  and Mr. Daljeet.A Multi cuisine, centrally Air Conditioned Vegetarian Restaurant with a sitting capacity of 145 people serving North Indian, South Indian, Chinese, Continental, Mexican,Italian, Pizza, Thalis, Snacks, Packed Food, bakery and Confectionery products, beverages etc.
Surya Mahal is probably one of the most consistent restaurants I have ever been to. The food, the service or the price never spring a surprise at you. At least they haven’t so far.
I find the food at Surya Mahal quite good. Especially theirdosa and chhola bhathura are perfect. I used to find their Vegetable Chopsuey unparalleled but that changed. However, it is never appallingly bad. It’s just not so good anymore. The only thing I have ever hated there is their soup, butthat’s consistently bad, so you know you should avoid it.

The waiters are very friendly sometimes, and sometimes, detached (?) but never rude.

I like the décor as it is simple and the white walls make it look more spacious than it probably is. The only disturbing features are the abstractpaintings (There’s one in particular that I could only make out to be asquished dove, minus the blood). Other than that, it’s quite pleasant. Also, I likethe front seating area better than the inner one. But that’s personal choice, I guess...

Specialty of the house being Paneer Butter Masala, Dosa, Pizza, Thali, Dal Makhani with all the secret recipes cooked by the special Chefs kept separately for each cuisine. An open kitchen view in which you can freely enter and see your favorite dish being cooked. It is also famous for its Outdoor parties, Theme parties, Packed food, Bake Hut (Bakery & Confectionery shop) and organizing food festivals like Pizza Carnival, Thali festival.
A long time back it used to be a lot different with wood panelingand round tables but then a fire happened. It looks nothing like what it used to… but I love to go there all the same.

Owner Hardeep Arora
And yes, if you end up there, you can enjoy the benefits of Jal Mahal, Bake Hut and the Lassiwallah as well. All in all, worth all thetrips you can possibly make.
For Jaipurites Surya Mahal is the finest and sought after venue, where one loves to visit again and again. Owner Hardeep Arora says, ” I believe growing popularity of this restaurant is its multi cusine and Rajasthani dishes”. Whenever one loves to hang around around at MI Road, Surya Mahal is something one cannot give a miss, if empty stomach

Oh! and they also have paper mats for the tables with trivia, riddles, puzzles and jokes. More than once, you will find someone looking for a pen. :)

Surya Mahal hail to you guys for feeding lakhs of foodies desperate in search of Food ,
God bless you guys !!
SO HERE`S OUR RATING 4.5/5
So if you are a localite or a tourist in Jaipur you MUST come here to tingle your taste buds!!

Kanji wada- The spirit of Holi

The spring festival of Holi brings lots of excitement along with it. All through the day, people are busy in merrymaking and relishing on delicious sweets and scrumptious pakode. Taking thandai mixed with Bhang and several other kinds of drinks is also a trend on this occasion. Since pakoras and vadas make an interesting companion with these drinks, varieties of pakoda and vadas are made on the occasion of Holi. Kanje ke vade, made of Urad dal, red chillies and hing is one of the most scrumptious vada made on Holi. If you also relish on vadas and pakodas, you must try the Kanji ka vada once. It is very easy to make and does not take much time. The recipe is given below.

Kanji Ke Vade Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 kg Urad Dal
  • 2 pcs (small) Hing
  • 3 tsp Salt
  • 4 tsp Rai (finely ground)
  • 2 tsp Red Chilies (pounded)
  • 6 jugs Water
  • Oil, for deep frying
  • Whole Red Chilies, for garnish
Method
  • Soak urad dal overnight and grind to the consistency of a cake batter.
  • Whisk the paste till it is fluffy.
  • Heat oil well in a deep frying pan.
  • Slide the small paste-parts into the heated oil and deep fry to a golden brown color.
  • Take care not to make the vadas too thick.
  • Take them out with a sieve type ladle and drain the oil completely.
  • Keep a tawa on the fire and heat crystals of hing on it.
  • As soon as it gives off the fragrance, turn an earthen pot on it.

Mirinda launches two new flavours

Go breathless this season as PepsiCo’s popular orange soft drink Mirinda launches two new exciting flavours. Along with its original unputdownable bold Orange taste, Mirinda has introduced two limited edition Orangey choices for the consumer- Orange Mango and Orange Masala. While Orange Mango is the perfect mix of the sweet candy taste of mango and the tanginess of original Mirinda Orange; Orange Masala tickles the taste buds with a hint of fruit masala added to the Mirinda Orange.

These three orangey flavours taste so good that one will not want to stop consuming it, leaving one almost gasping for breath. It is the unputdownable taste that promises to leave everybody breathless. Check out the fun and youthful new ad film featuring leading actress and Mirinda brand ambassador, Asin on your TV screens. Directed by Raju Hirani of Munnabhai series and 3 Idiots fame, the ad film is set in a college where everyone on the campus is going breathless. It shows Asin indulging in some fun with a rude Chief Guest at a college function, taking forward Mirinda’s Pagalpanti Bhi Zaroori Hai mantra.

Speaking about the launch, Ruchira Jaitly, Executive Vice President - Marketing, Beverages (Flavours), PepsiCo India said, “Mirinda has always stood for great bold taste that unleashes pagalpanti. Taking the promise forward, we are multiplying the excitement further by innovating with products that appeal to the Indian palette. The two new tasty flavors – Orange Mango & Orange Masala add local familiarity to a bestselling global drink.”

“I have had a fun-filled association with Mirinda for many years now and have always loved the drink. I am really thrilled about the new flavours as we all now have three different delicious orangey tastes to savour! I particularly enjoyed shooting for this campaign as it was a college set up with lots of people and the breathless concept brought alive our pagalpanti for the irresistible Mirinda taste. Working with Mr. Hirani was a pleasure as he’s such an accomplished director and an amazing human being”, said Asin.

Director, Raju Hirani, commented, “I am selective about the ad films I direct, but the script that I received for Mirinda was very interesting. The campaign has this social, relatable, fun and pagalpanti aspect that I believe everyone will enjoy, just like the three different flavours of Mirinda”.

Be a part of the pagalpanti through the innovative Taste Twister Challenge. Each of three tasty Mirinda flavours has a unique Taste Twister that describes the fun and tasty experience of drinking them.
